Navigating the Eternal City is part of the experience. To help you move seamlessly between ancient wonders and modern life, here is an essential guide to Rome’s transport network.
The Metro (Lines A, B, C)
The underground is the fastest way to cross the city. Lines A (Red), B (Blue), and C (Green) follow these hours:
- Sunday – Thursday: 5:30 AM – 11:30 PM
- Friday & Saturday: 5:30 AM – 1:30 AM
Night Service: Once the Metro closes, the city remains connected via the night bus network. Look for the lines nMA, nMB, and nMC. These buses follow the same routes as the metro lines, ensuring you can always find your way back to your accommodation.
The Sea Line (MetroMare)
If you wish to escape to the coast and visit the ruins of Ostia Antica or the beaches of Ostia, use the MetroMare line.
- Monday – Friday & Sunday: 5:15 AM – 9:00 PM (From 9:15 PM to 11:30 PM, a replacement bus service is available).
- Saturday: 5:15 AM – 11:30 PM
Night Service: For late-night returns from the coast, use the nME bus.
